Durango Steering Box for the XJ

There are two possible part numbers for the Durango Steering box. 

  1. Recommended:  #277580 - 98 Durango V8 with the snow plow option has the 3.5 turns lock to lock.  Some have received them with only 3 turns.

Cons with Durango boxes

  • Never know if you get the 3 turn vs 3.5 turn lock to lock
  • The sector shaft bearing support sucks and may get lateral play.  Doesn't use ball bearings
  • Power Steering Pump may need to be swapped with a PSC or WJ V8 steering pump to account for volume increase.
